Award-Winning Country Soul Artist | Detroit, Michigan
Detroit-born. Motown-raised. Country at heart.
Born and raised on the east side of Detroit, Michigan, Julian Joel is an award-winning country artist redefining the boundaries of country music through a distinctive fusion of Motown soul, Gospel roots, and authentic country storytelling.
A proud Josie Music Awards winner, Julian earned the prestigious Modern Country Song of the Year (Male) honor at the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, marking a defining milestone in his musical journey and bringing national recognition to his signature Motown Country sound.
Raised in a large, deeply musical family, Julian's foundation was built in the church, where Gospel music, powerful harmonies, and heartfelt expression became second nature. Before stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, Julian developed his musical talents as a drummer, vocalist, and touring musician, including performing alongside Carla Cooke, daughter of legendary soul singer Sam Cooke and singing background vocals for gospel artist Kira Daffin. Those experiences helped shape his dynamic stage presence, rich vocal delivery, and ability to connect with audiences across musical genres.
Today, Julian Joel brings those influences together in a sound he proudly calls Motown Country—where the storytelling of country music meets the rhythm and soul of Detroit, all grounded in the emotional depth of Gospel.
Through original songs such as Pull Up, PTO, United We Stand and Next 2 U. Julian delivers music rooted in real-life experiences, love, faith, resilience, and the pursuit of purpose. Julian has made appearances at SXSW, CMA Fest Takeovers, Arts, Beats & Eats, and other notable events around the USA, Julian continues to build his presence while proudly representing the city that shaped him.
